Devotees can pray St. Rose of Lima novena for embroiderers and gardeners. This novena can also be prayed for Christians of the new world.
The Saint Rose of Lima is famous as the patroness of the Philippines, Peru, and Latin America, embroiderers, gardeners, florists, those who suffer as a result of their piety, and those who suffer from family issues at home.
About St. Rose of Lima
St. Rose of Lima’s real name was Isabel de Flores. On April 20, 1586, she was born in Lima, Peru. Her father was a Puerto Rican who had accompanied the Spanish conquistadors to Peru in 1548.
The infant, one of ten children born to the couple, was named Isabel after an aunt who served as godmother, Isabel de Herrara. Because the infant was incredibly weak, the ceremony was held at home.
The little newborn was escorted to the local church of San Sebastian for baptism by the priest, Don Antonio Polanco, several weeks later. When she was still an infant, a housemaid exclaimed, “She’s as lovely as a rose,” and she was given the name Rose. Her mother chose Rose as her daughter’s name, and she was given that name during confirmation.
St. Rose is best known for her penances, which she performed not for their own purpose but as pure gestures of her love for Jesus and vicarious satisfaction for the souls of those who were precious to Him. Her love found new ways to be expressed.
Rose prayed for the conversion of the Peruvian Indians, who were still practising pagan beliefs, and for her beloved Archbishop Turibius, who was himself a saint, in his difficulties. She was educated to prepare herbal medicines and took great pleasure in offering them to Lima’s ailing poor and needy.
Rose stands out among Dominican saints in her understanding of the immeasurable value of redemptive suffering. Speaking of the power that directed her life, she wrote, “That same force strongly urged me to proclaim the beauty of Divine Grace.”
Rose distinguishes out among Dominican saints for her profound awareness of the importance of redemptive suffering. “That same force strongly urged me to proclaim the beauty of Divine Grace,” she wrote in describing the energy that guided her life.

St. Rose of Lima Novena
Day 1
Let us begin, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Admirable St. Rose,
you were truly a sweet flower blooming on a rugged soil;
you were indeed a rose among thorns,
bearing, with meekness and patience,
the stings of envious tongues,
while preserving perfect purity and modesty
amid the alluring blandishments of a deceitful world.
To the sufferings inflicted on you by others, St. Rose of Lima
you added the voluntary tortures
of fasting and watching, of a crown of thorns
and of a hair shirt, to subdue the flesh
and to make yourself like your heavenly Spouse.
By the merits you gained with your Divine Bridegroom,
obtain for me the grace to bear my afflictions with patience,
to remain pure and modest,
to be meek and humble,
to be faithful to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit,
and so to mortify my passions
that I may be ever more pleasing
and acceptable in the sight of my dear Lord and Saviour,
Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns world without end.
Amen
