About St. Paul
St. Paul the Apostle, whose actual name was Saul of Tarsus, was a leader of the first generation of Christians and is frequently regarded as the most important person in the history of Christianity after Jesus.
Although he was a key player in the fledgling Christian movement in his day, he had many enemies and detractors, and his contemporaries probably did not regard him with the same reverence as Peter and James.
As a result, Paul was forced to battle to establish his own worth and authority. His letters, on the other hand, have had a huge impact on later Christianity, cementing his reputation as one of the greatest religious leaders of all time.
Paul spent much of the first half of his life persecuting the nascent Christian movement, which he mentions numerous times in the book. Paul’s motives are unknown, although they don’t appear to be linked to his Pharisaism.
The high priest and his companions, who were Sadducees (if they belonged to one of the parties), were the main persecutors of the Christian movement in Jerusalem, and Acts presents the leading Pharisee, Gamaliel, as protecting the Christians.
It’s likely that Paul believed Jewish converts to the national initiative weren’t following Jewish law closely enough, that Jewish converts mixed too freely with Gentile (non-Jewish) converts, thereby identifying themselves with idolatry activities, or that the idea of a crucified messiah was offensive.
The young Paul would have scoffed at the belief that Jesus was raised from the dead, not because he questioned resurrection in general, but because he couldn’t accept that God decided to favor Jesus by reviving him before the world’s end.

Significance of St. Paul Novena
The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, also known as the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, is a liturgical feast commemorating the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul’s martyrdom in Rome on June 29. The anniversary of their death or the translation of their relics is the day chosen for the festival, which is of ancient Christian origin.
This feast also celebrates the end of the Apostles’ Fast (which began on the Monday following All Saints’ Sunday, i.e. the second Monday after Pentecost) for Eastern Orthodox and some Eastern Catholic Christians.
Although it is not one of the twelve main feasts, it is one of five additional feasts in the Eastern Orthodox tradition that are commemorated with an all-night vigil beginning the night before.
From 1900 to 2099, the Julian calendar’s 29 June falls on the Gregorian calendar’s 12 July.
