Divine Mercy Novena

What is Divine Mercy Novena?

Traditionally, a novena is nine days of prayer in preparation for a celebration of a feast day. Though the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Novena can be recited at any time, it is best recited at 3:00 A.M. because it is the Hour of Great Mercy.

On February 22, 1931, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to St. Faustina with rays radiating from His heart and gave her a message for humanity.

On September 13, 1935, she had another vision. A day later, an inner voice asked her to pray this prayer on ordinary rosary beads.

This chaplet is known as Divine Mercy Chaplet. It is so powerful that priests recommend it to sinners as the last hope. Even if recited once, a sinner receives grace from Our Lord. Also, read how to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

St. Maria Faustina Kowalska of Divine Mercy

Saint Maria Faustyna Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament was titled the “Secretary of Divine Mercy”, was a Polish Roman Catholic nun and mystic, and was called as “The humble instrument” and was later declared by the Church as the “Apostle of Divine Mercy”.

St. John Paul II also named her “The great apostle of Divine Mercy in our time” for her dedication and love towards the Divine Mercy.

Helena Kowalska was born on 25 August 1905 in Glogowiec, Poland to Marianna and Stanisław Kowalski.

She was devoted to Christ from a very young age and attended the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the age of seven where she decided to dedicate her life to Christ.

At the age of 20, she joined a convent in Warsaw and later became a confessor and spiritual director with the help of Father Michał Sopoćko, who supported her devotion to the Divine Mercy.

St. Faustina with the help of an artist painted the first ever Divine Mercy image based on her vision given by Jesus. In 1925 she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Warsaw.

She lived in the Congregation for thirteen years and was blessed with various apparitions, ecstasies, the gift of bilocation, hidden stigmata, reading into human souls, the mystical betrothal, and nuptials as her gift for her extreme devotion towards the Divine Mercy.

She was given the principal task of spreading the Message of Mercy and a calling to each one of us to give our lives to the Lord and also to love our neighbor.

St. Faustina was also given the new forms of worship by Jesus Christ such as the picture inscribed “Jesus, I trust in You”, the Feast of Divine Mercy, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Prayer in the Hour of His Death on the Cross, the Hour of Mercy and the preachings of the message of Mercy.

These worships are contained in the “Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska”, which speaks about God’s loving message of Divine Mercy. Sister Faustina died on October 5, 1938, at the young age of 35.

St. Faustina was canonized as a saint on 30 April 2000. Her remains are kept in the Divine Sanctuary, Kraków-Łagiewniki. The  Apostolic Movement of the Divine Mercy continues her mission and spreads the message of Mercy to the world.

Day 1

Today bring to Me ALL MANKIND, ESPECIALLY ALL SINNERS, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me.

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy for ever and ever.

Amen.

Now, I use my gifts solely to help those distressed souls who have lost all hopes, those who have been left alone to fend for themselves, those whom the system doesn’t care anymore, those whom the mainstream science has ignored.
