Significance of St. Peregrine Novena
St. Peregrine is the Patron Saint of cancer patients. foot ailments, AIDS, and incurable diseases.
Peregrine Laziosi (1265-1345) was born in Forlì, Italy to an affluent family. Initially, he was opposed to the papacy. In fact, he had hit Philip Benizi, of the Order of Servites (Servants of Mary) on his face. But immediately felt remorse. Philip forgave Peregrine thus making him a strong supporter.
Peregrine then devoted his life to Our Son. Later on, he became a priest. He was also known as the “Angel of Good Counsel.”
After some years, he had a very painful cancer growth on his right foot. The night before his amputation surgery, Peregrine prayed fervently for healing. He had a vision of Christ on the cross touching his afflicted foot with his hand and was fully healed.
He soon started healing people by whispering “Jesus” into their ears.
Peregrine was canonized in 1726 and is the patron saint of cancer, AIDs, and other incurable diseases.

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of being until you took recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. We beseech you to ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
