Significance of St. Michael Novena
St. Michael is venerated as an angel and in fact, is considered the leader of the army of God. He is one of the four main archangels in Christianity. Michael is also known as “the Angel of the Lord.”
St Michael the Archangel is the patron of soldiers, doctors, mariners, police, and grocers. He is often shown wearing armor with a sword, scales, and fighting with a dragon.
Faithfuls seek protection in a battle or from evil and for healing pray intercession from St. Michael the Archangel Novena prayers.
St. Michael’s role and mission are very critical to Christianity.
- Defeat of Satan and the fallen angels: St.Michael is the commander of the God’s army and has defeated the Satan twice.
- At the hour of death: Michael assists and rescues the souls of the faithful at the hour of death.
- Guardian of the Church: St. Michael is champion of God’s people, the Jews in the Old Testament, the Christians in the New Testament. He is considered the protector of the Church.
- Weighing souls on Judgment Day: Saint Michael is often potrayed wih scales. He calls away souls from earth and bring men’s souls to judgment. He is also potrayed with two books. The smaller book has the name of he blessed while the big book records the name of the damned.
