St. Francis is one of the most popular religious figures in Roman Catholic history and is the founder of the Franciscan orders, The Poor Clares and The lay Third Order. St. Francis novena is prayed to seek his intercession for peace, holiness, and deep faith.
He is the patron saint of Italy, ecology, and animals. He is also the patron against dying alone; against fire, families, peace, and needleworkers. He is the patron of many dioceses such as Italy; San Pawl il-Bahar, Malta; Freising, Germany; Lancaster, England; Kottapuram, India, Metuchen, NewJersey; Quibdó, and Colombia.
St. Francis of Assisi, was born around 1181-1182, Italy to Pietro di Bernardone dei Moriconi and Pica de Bourlemonthe.
As a child St. Francis is remembered as a happy, charming, and young leader, he lived a rich and very easy life and later became a soldier and served the country.
He longed for glory and honor and eventually got an opportunity to gain this when Assisi declared war on Perugia.
The night before the war St. Francis had a dream where God commanded him to fall back as he was taking the wrong decision.
St. Francis listened to God’s words and left the war to pray and weep for his sins, with God’s grace St. Francis understood that there is nothing more glorious than God’s love.
St. Francis had experienced visions from God and was told to repair the church of Sam Damiano in his prayers, St. Francis had no help and had to cheat on his father by selling the fabrics from his father’s shop and using the money for building the Church. Upon knowing St. Francis’s motivation his father took him to the bishop and demanded the money to be returned.
St. Francis returned every penny and left his early life to return to the woods where he prayed to God and built the Sam Damiano Church with his own hands and after completion St. Francis started to preach about the second coming of Christ and obedience to the Church.
St. Francis is praised for his love of nature and one of his famous preachings includes him talking and preaching to hundreds of birds about the deeds of the Creator, their independence, and God’s care. St. Francis fell ill due to health issues and died on October 4, 1226, at the age of 45.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi before the Blessed Sacrament
We adore You,
O Lord Jesus Christ,
in this Church and
all the Churches of the world,
and we bless You,
because,
by Your holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
