St. Neumann novena is prayed to seek his intercession for any cause especially if you’re suffering from physical ailments or injuries.
About St. John Neumann
St. John Neumann, whose native name is Johann Nepomuk Neumann, was born on the 28th of March in 1811. Born to Philip Neumann and Agnes Lepší, Philip’s second wife, he was the third of their six children.
He was born in Prachatice, Czechia, where he began his education at the age of six. He was known to be smart and bright during his young years. His patronage is that of Catholic Education.
He was known to have spent his life building schools, churches, and asylums for his diocese. He was the fourth Bishop of Philadelphia and to date, the only male U.S. citizen to be canonized.
He studied theology in the seminary of Budweis and was always zealous of the missionary life and to lead souls to Christ. Encouraged by this goal, he decided to leave his homeland and migrate to The United States of America.
He wanted to dedicate his life to the European immigrants of America who were deprived of spiritual support. He devoted his entire life to the religion of Christianity and founded the Catholic diocesan school system in the United States of America.
Neumann never wanted any position of authority and begged not to be made a Bishop. However, in 1852, at the age of 41, he was declared a Bishop by Pope Pius IX. After his installation, because of his short stature, many called him, with great affection, “Our Little Bishop.”
He was known to have cured people of their misfortunes, injuries, and diseases and was well known for his great, spiritual healing abilities.
One example is that of eleven-year-old, Eva Benassi from Sassuolo in Italy. Her diagnosis was acute diffused peritonitis and she was on the brink of death. She completely recovered the following day after praying to St. John for his intervention.
Another example is that of James Kent Lehanan, a nineteen-year-old boy, who suffered from a smashed skull, a pierced lung, a broken collarbone, and three broken ribs, caused due to an accident.
He was deemed unfit for surgery but prayed to St. John who miraculously, cured him free of all these ailments.

Significance of St. John Neumann Novena
St. John Neumann passed away in the year 1860, on January 5th due to a sudden heart attack at the age of 48. He suffered a heart attack while running some errands on Philadelphia Street. His feast day is celebrated on January 5th (and on March 5th by the Bohemians). Prayers of redemption are prayed on the day.
